How PEMF Actually Works

A pulsed electromagnetic field is exactly what the name says: a magnetic field that switches on and off in a controlled pulse. Reviews of the mechanism describe the same four dials every time — waveform, pulse repetition frequency, intensity, and exposure time. Those parameters are the device. Change them and you change what the field does in tissue.

At the cellular level, the working model is that a pulsed field interacts with charged membranes and ion movement, which is the proposed basis for how PEMF supports cellular function and supports the body’s inflammatory response.
